Excellent Articles

If you want to achieve excellence, you can get there today. As of this second, quit doing less-than-excellent work. – Thomas J. Watson, Sr.

So I only began reading articles last year. Prior to that I was just like any other teenager, wasting time on YouTube, games, ebaums world and a whole other bunch of crap. Through a friend I have been exposed to the amazing site Arts & Letters Daily and with it, all the incredible articles it presents. True, there is quite a lot of articles on that site that are hella boring, but that still doesn’t diminish the amazing articles I have been exposed to. This little page will be a list of those articles, hopefully causing the same effect to others as they did to me. For the time being there is only a few but in time I will add more, once I find them again.

 Enjoy!

BEST OF 2007

 1. In the Heart of Freedom, in Chains – Myron Magnet: Elite hypocrisy, gangsta culture, and failure in black America

 2. The Difficult Struggle Against AIDS in Africa – Marco Evers: Millions in Sub-Saharan Africa are infected with the HIV virus which causes AIDS. But efforts to curb the disease continue to fail due to disinformation and bad politics. What can be done?

 3. Last Photographs – Ashley Gilbertson with Joanna Gilbertson: Baghdad, March 2007 (Note: this story is the unofficial part six of the currently released book Whiskey Tango Foxtrot: A Photographer’s Chronicle of the Iraq War by the same author)

 4. Ten Politically Incorrect Truths About Human Nature – Alan S. Miller Ph.D., Satoshi Kanazawa Ph.D.: Why most suicide bombers are Muslim, beautiful people have more daughters, humans are naturally polygamous, sexual harassment isn’t sexist, and blonds are more attractive.

 5. ‘Mem, Mem, Mem’ – Paul West: After a stroke, a prolific novelist struggles to say how the mental world of aphasia looks and feels

 6. HERETICAL THOUGHTS ABOUT SCIENCE AND SOCIETY – Freeman Dyson: My first heresy says that all the fuss about global warming is grossly exaggerated…

Cheers!
